Dr. Rusty Venture, once a child prodigy superhero sensation, now stumbles through middle age as a bitter, broke-down inventor with zero superpowers left. Looming over it all is Rusty's ultimate rival, the hilariously hapless supervillain The Monarch, scheming from his cocoon-shaped lair with his tough-talking partner Dr. Girlfriend (later Mrs. The Monarch). This Adult Swim animated gem, kicking off in 2003, skewers superhero tropes with pitch-black humor, wild action, and endless pop culture nods across seven seasons and specials.
